Where every story comes to life.
Fabrication is a writing studio that immerses you in the world you are building, making it easy to construct narratives - for any format. Build your characters and your world - we provide tools to visualize them, construct your narrative arc, reorganize situations and scenes, then leverage those materials to connect with fans, and cross into other formats as you find your audience.
Fabrication for Creators pairs with our narrative platform for easy publication, audience testing, and new immersive formats, built around your story's world. Write the way you always have. Then, as the platform grows, immerse your readers in your story.

Philosophy
Writers leverage their IP and earn
Fabrication's core features are and will remain free. Our goal is a great writing experience - we built the tool for ourselves and want to empower writers and ensure viable paths to monetizing writing careers and finding passionate audiences for diverse work. Our platform, Fabrication.live will offer some of the most favorable royalty structures in the industry. We hope you will publish with us.
We also believe your intellectual property belongs to you - we don't train AI on your work. Our goal is to incorporate AI features in future versions to allow for immersive formats, these would require small hyper-trained models. Interactions in our platform with these models will belong to authors, generate royalties for them, and will not train generic models that would potentially extract a writer's voice and tone.
During our beta, we hope you'll take the surveys we send out, and reach out with any bugs you find or feature requests you have. We are also writing our novels in the application and will be updating features regularly.
The idea
A writer builds an entire universe when they put pen to paper.
Characters with histories, worlds with unique terrain, settings with a whole vibe, arcs and interactions. Fabrication helps with character, setting and world development, then makes that IP available to authors to leverage for crossing formats and connecting with fans who are interested in writing fan-fiction or creating other derivative works - building a real royalty base that grows as fan engagement increases. Fabrication Live aims to bring that universe to life — for the author, and for their fans.
Immersed in the world you made
Fabrication keeps your world at the heart of the work: every character, setting and thread between them, joined to the scenes they're in. You write inside your universe, not thumbing back and forth through pages of notes.
Creators and fans, closer
When you publish to Fabrication Live, you'll receive micro-interaction data on how your audience engages, and a platform where you can connect with them as closely as you want, empowering how fans engage with your story.
Ready for any format
A world built once, with its look and its voices, can grow beyond a single book: into interactive fiction, games, graphic novels, and film and television.
Where we are
Built in phases, with you.
Fabrication for Creators beta is our launch: a creation tool for writing and building your world. What comes next is shaped by what you tell us.
The creation tool
Write, outline, plan on a corkboard and timeline, and build your world — characters, settings and the bonds between them. Stuck? Build scenes in the situation tool. Files stored on your Mac.
More platforms, more features
We expand to support Windows and build out core features that help you leverage the world you are creating across formats.
Fabrication Live
Publish to readers, build a following, and let fans step inside — with metrics that show what they love, and royalties that reward you for engagement.
The creation tool, today
Everything a story is made of, in one place.
Fabrication syncs every view - automatic character and setting recognition: a world that knows your manuscript.
Narrative
Scene reference handy
Our manuscript editor keeps your scene reference at hand. Focus on the plot points and character arc as you write.
- Set illustrations into the text, wrapped or full-page
- Automatic character and settings recognition reduces setup labor
- Save revisions — each one kept as a PDF beside your project
Outline · Timeline & Canvas
See the shape of the whole story
Lay scenes out as a table, or as cards on a corkboard with the story's pages running beneath them. Drag to reorder; nest scenes inside scenes; mark story-arc points to ensure your page count matches key beats.
- Planned pages and actual pages, help you check timing
- Changes in outline or timeline reflected everywhere
World
Your world, as a living reference
Flesh out your characters, settings and any other key elements of your world. Add your own visual references or generate them using connected visual models to help you immerse.
- Custom templates let you build your world exactly as you like
- Graph your world to understand its relationships
- Images from your computer — or from your own image-service account
Situations
Stuck? What if two characters unexpectedly met...
Drag a setting and a few characters together to draft a situation. Keep it as a sketch, put it inside a scene, or make it a scene of its own when it's ready.
Our promises
Your story stays yours.
You write the work
While we are excited to explore where generative AI may play a role in narrative, we believe humans should craft the work. This is not an AI-generator. It's a tool for serious authors, aspiring creators and fans who want to build on their favorite work.
Your files are on your Mac
Each project is a single file in a folder you choose, with its revisions saved as PDFs and its notes as RTF beside it. The beta keeps none of your writing in the cloud. We are working on translators to formats other than PDF and cloud backup storage. Let us know your favorite formats.
Your canon, your credit
When fans write fan-fic, it's your world they're building on - their work stays connected to you, and you profit from the popularity.
